MR. FABIO "THEDIAMONDKING" VELLATA (TRUEMETAL.IT)

Name: Fabio “TheDiamondKing” Vellata

Country: Italy

Age: 38

Name (and link if present) of your website/magazine: www.Truemetal.it

Position in your website/magazine: Editor in Chief / Editorial Coordinator / Label Manager

Online since (year when your website went online): 2001

Introduce you as editor and your website with a little bio (year and how you started to write reviews, possible previous versions and/or name of the website, more you want do add): hummm… I’m nothing more than a fan. A simple, true, rock fan. And I’m lucky to have the possibility to express my opinion on this passion called “rock” discussing about it through one of the most prominent italian webzine…
I’ve started writing ‘bout music on some fanzine and school paper. Things have become serious on winter 2005, when I was asked to try for Truemetal. And It’s fun to see that now, it has become the site I lead…

Favorite rock sytles (AOR, Melodic Rock, Hard-Rock, Westcoast, Glam, Sleaze or so on):  AOR and HR of course.

Other music styles you like: Blues’s and country are in heart too. And why not? A little bit of progressive and death metal. Music is fun, give no limitations to it!

"THE" band / artist that fully embraces your tastes in music:  impossible to reduce all to a single name. Let me call Whitesnake, Queen, Def Leppard, Pink Floyd, ELO…  buta there are many more, that’s for sure. However, want a name? Take Whitesnake and it’s ok…

Your personal TOP 5 of all times:
Queen – A Kind Of Magic
Whitesnake – 1987
Def Leppard – Hysteria
Pink Floyd – The Wall
Electric Light Orchestra – Out Of The Blue

Your personal FLOP 5 of all times:
Ehhh, I tend to forget musical delusions. Last Strangeways album, however, is among them…

Your biggest delusion in music (a crap album, a missed interview, a bad concert you've attended, etc): The missed show of Pretty Maids in 1999.

Your highest point reached in music (a long awaited interview, a meeting with one of your idols, results reached with your webiste, etc): interviewing Jeff Scott Soto, Glenn Hughes, Jim Peterik and Jimi Jamison. That’s’ for sure.

Your most successful / favorite review: I’ve done a huge number of review. Maybe, the one about Chinese Democracy is one of the best…

Your bitter regret about one of your reviews / interviews: …no regrets on my side…

Your 5 most promising acts / artists of the "new" generation:
Heat, The Poodles, Lionville, Diamond Dawn, Vega

Your vision for the next years about the music biz of our music styles (possible death of the cd format, thoughts about digital releases, evolution of rock labels, etc.): too many bands and labels are killing the taste of music as it’s for illegal download too.
Going on in that way, we’ll have lesser quality year by year, and a bunch of useless records made by untalented bands. Not a good vision: need to restore that old “eighty” feeling, through which music was not business but pure passion…
And please, if you can’t bring back vinyls, keep cds at least!

Your personal suggestions for today's labels and artists: Hey guys! There are too many fishes in this sea now! Less business, more passion. And give true opportunity to became “big“only to those truly deserve it!

Anything you want to add:  hummm…no!
